As of January 1, 2007, the LIS no longer exists as such. The LIS and the laboratories LAG (Laboratoire d'Automatique de Grenoble) and ICP (Institut de la Communication Parlée) have merged to form a new laboratory, GIPSA-lab (Grenoble Images Parole Signal Automatique), UMR 5216.
