Observation of a Random Fiber Laser Induced by Rayleigh Backscattering

Abstract :

We present several observations of a random fiber lasing effect induced by Rayleigh backscattering only. A reflective semiconductor optical amplifier re-amplifies the non-coherent light fed back by 25km of SMF acting as a scattered mirror.
