An initiative has been taken in 2008 at the 5th MCM of COST 2100 (Trondheim, Norway, June 4-6, 2008) and exposed in TD(08)524 "Statistical antenna modelling". Since that time, several works implementing this approach in one way or another have been carried out. The purpose of the present paper is to review these works, situate after some years the context and the scientific objectives of such an approach, and discuss whether it is relevant to give it further momentum.
